Rockwell College Union's statement on the abuse of children in Spiritan Schools - Archived from November 2022

Dear All,

I would like to state on behalf of myself personally and as President of Rockwell College Union, and on behalf of the Governing Body of the Union, that we abhor the abuse of any children in the Spiritan schools. You are aware  of commentary in the press and on the radio in the past week or so regarding historic abuse of boys in the Spiritan schools in Ireland. There are a significant amount of allegations circulating in the press at present. They are now being investigated by external parties, and the Rockwell College Union fully supports these investigations. We applaud the courage of victims who tell their story and they can be assured of our full support.  I will repeat however that the Union absolutely abhors abuse of students in any of the Spiritan schools in Ireland and it should not happen at any time.
